There are many different types of seizures and each affects a person differently. It is quite scary witnessing or having a seizure and in the early stages you don't know what to do. This post is aimed at breaking down what epilepsy is, the main categories of seizures and how to help someone if they are having a seizure. What is Epilepsy? I have always wanted to be a mum. If I was nothing else in the world I would be perfectly happy, I feel like it is what I was born to be whether it be through biological children, fostering or adopting I just wanted to be a mum. Well, they do say the things you want most don't come easily and that is something we have come to learn. My husband and I started trying for a baby not long after we got together, which is crazy to some because we were both young and had not known each other for long but, we just knew! I came off all contraception in August 2017 I was on the week break from my pill and we made the decision that I wouldn't start back on again. Looking back we were naïve, why wouldn't it just be easy and simple we were young and healthy adults and although my periods had never been regular I never thought too much about it. The scary part is, if you did not know me really well; you would have NO idea I was having a seizure. I have temporal onset seizures and it took me 10 years to get my diagnosis. Right as I was beginning my GCSE’s and I also had a lot going on at home. I was in and out of doctors at least once a fortnight and I missed a lot of school during my crucial years. The “diagnosis” went from panic attacks to hormones to seizures. One doctor even said I had thrush and that was causing it. Side note - I did not.
